Easter Egg Splash

Our fabulous Marine Corps pool planned an Easter Egg Splash this year, which I had never even HEARD of. Basically, an Easter Egg hunt, but in the water. The kids were divided by swim skill level instead of age, and had to complete a swim test before the hunt. For the little guys, they were all floating eggs (and the REALLY little guys were allowed a parent in the pool to help). For the more advanced swimmers, some were floating and some were sunken.

After the test.
Payton tested into the intermediate group, Collin into the advanced swimmers.

Payton on the hunt.
No, he isn't sinking. He has an odd swimming style that involves sinking slightly. I am used to it, but the borrowed lifeguards weren't. They tried to "save" him twice, much to his chagrin.

Collin getting ready to go. He had his eye on the golden egg, but alas, a cute little girl swimmer got it!

After the race they counted their eggs and turned them in for a basket of goodies. Since the eggs in the pool couldn't very well contain candy. :)

Collin WON for the most eggs collected!!! He was so thrilled, and earned every ounce of that candy. The sunken eggs were easier to catch than the floaters. The floating eggs took off on the bow wave when the hunters reached for them.
