Packing Out

The packers came today. HOORAY!!! It feels really good to get over this first moving hurdle.

Korean movers are FANTASTIC! Hands down, the best movers that we have ever seen. And this comes from experience! They are extremely professional and super fast. They were completely done in the house by 3PM. In the States, it would take at least two days...one for packing, one for loading. And for International moves, everything has to be completely boxed and all seams taped...including furniture and all boxes.

One interesting thing was the way they moved everything to the hallway before they moved it to the elevator and down to the truck. Good thing there wasn't a fire inspection! I am pretty sure all of our neighbors would have had a hard time getting past all the clutter, as you can see from the picture.

Our borrowed furniture arrived a bit earlier than scheduled, and it was funny to hear the movers fussing at them in Korean. Obviously, they are used to the routine, but they were more than a little irked that stuff was coming in while they were still trying to move things out. :)

All in all, a good day. The kids were out of the way....always good....C was in school until 2:30 and P was in the CDC (base daycare) from 9-5. Kodiak was on the balcony, and Meish was in the "No Pack" room, which I designated with signs with a LARGE red X!! (Again, from experience, movers will pack just about anything for weight....like garbage, kitty litter in the box, and ALL the "no pack" zone!!)

So, one step down, only 24,000 to go until we are settled in Alabama!!! Stay tuned.....
